We bring comfort and security

Fountair brings comfort and security in terms of high quality pure water for residences and for urban gardening.

The water that is produced by Fountair's autonomous system is matching all WHO standards.

It is produced solely by using electricity, as a matter a fact it can be made available for ON or for OFF-grid situations, and it does not use additional dissecting or refrigerating gas.

This pure, drinkable water is real “source" water, which means that it is not a form of reprocessed, or treated water that has been channeled from another source or a plant and then delivered to your tap supposedly safe and odorless, but it has come straight from the source.

Reclaimed water can be the water of your washing machine or yesterday’s water from the dishwasher (there is a psychological element that can get even worse when the water could be that of your neighbor’s dishwasher).

The water produced by our system cannot be compared to the water supplied by a network, however the comparison to its advantages falls far from the price of commercially bottled water.

The quantity delivered by our system is adaptable to scale, but the capacity always depends on the characteristics of the ambient air because of its temperature and its degree of hygrometry.

Simply put, hot, moist air contains more water than temperate or dry air.

The watering of urban gardens like balcony gardens, roof gardens, greenhouse gardens.

A lot of people living in metropolitan areas dream about joining the sustainable food movement and growing their own food in a home garden.

However, watering is a problem for 99% of gardeners. It can be impossible to guess or to foresee exactly how much water each plant will need to grow.

Our system can take a huge amount of pressure off the gardener by offering an autonomous water production system that is clean and can, if needed, work solely or partly on renewable energy.

The effort to equip a house with a autonomous water production unit and a self-sustained garden on surfaces that otherwise would not be used is all in line with the philosophy of constructing an ‘active house’ that serves you and your garden with pure drinking water.

The ‘active house’ is a vision of buildings that create healthier and more comfortable lives for their occupants without negative impact on the climate – moving us towards a cleaner, healthier and safer world.

It’s in fact an evolution of the passive house philosophy, which creates low energy buildings. Developers of active houses are taking it a step further. While passive houses put the environment in the first place, not everyone goes for that idea. An active house also adds comfort as a priority, making it a much more marketable idea. An active house is low energy, low impact, and above all great to live in as well. After all, most of us spend 90% of our time indoors. In other words sustainability, comfort and security of living.

Here a few scenarios that show how Fountair's system could be integrated into any form or size of urban garden to make it semi or fully autonomous when it comes to watering your crops.

Scenario 1

Rooftop garden

Our first scenario is a garden built on repurposed flat roof also called a ‘green roof’. Cities are full of unused spaces that are ‘invisible-from-below’. Historically these roofs were hugely neglected and only used for emergency or fire exit purposes, and sometimes, as we can see in quite a few movies, for drying the laundry. Although already mandated in some European cities, green roofs are becoming increasingly common in U.S. cities. These roofs provide major environmental benefits, including eliminating the need to develop new ways of containing storm water runoff.

However, in areas where water is scarce or during increasingly hot seasons our system could provide the necessary water supply to keep your vegetables alive and green.

Although there might be an electricity socket somewhere on your roof, usually electricity would have to be provided. This could be by extending an existing power line or by reinstalling new lines which could become costly.

A water tap on the other hand is less evident on an unused roof and certainly more costly to install.

In such a case, our system could easily provide the renewable energy (solar, wind, vibration) to run the water production unit on its own.

Scenario 2

Balcony garden

Balcony gardens are usually very small and not built to host plants, let alone vegetables. Although it might be quite easy and low cost to add a power extension to your balcony, sometimes it could be annoying to have such a cable going from your room to an exterior area. For sure on small balconies water might not be available. Like on our roof garden here too our system would be a great fit. The smaller size of our unit could easily sit in a corner of your balcony without taking too much valuable space. The energy could be harvested from the light and especially from wind which you might have plenty of on your balcony.

Scenario 3

Greenhouse garden

Greenhouses have been around for quite a while. They could be placed simply somewhere in your garden or in the backyard or, what you see more and more, in a corner of your roof garden.

As it has been established for some time a lot of commercial greenhouse kits are available. Our system could simply deal with supplying high quality water for your crops. The unit could be easily set up and does not need any maintenance or additional refrigerants. Hence it could be really useful as a security measure for when you are not around or even on vacation. You would not have to ask someone to come around when you are away, or to worry about the watering of your crops.

Scenario 4

Indoor garden

If you are a fan of hydroponics or aquaponics and your indoor garden is your passion, you would probably know that using pure water as the source for watering your plants is a good idea. It has been proven that starting from clean, pure water, that you then can treat or mineralize depending on the type of crops you are growing, will get you the best results. Our system can be easily inserted into the hydroponics cycle as provider of pure water. Indoors electricity would of course be necessary for the unit to produce water. The unit can be plugged into the normal power grid. Although the capacity of water production is much lower inside a building it is still possible to provide enough water for the hydroponics cycle to run.


As shown by the four simple scenarios above Fountair's water production unit can provide a high level of comfort and security when it comes to supplying your home with drinking water or your urban garden with a sufficient quantity of high quality pure water.

Comfort 1: Water security in case of water supply related problems such as network problems or the absence of a water supply.

Comfort 2: Autonomous water source while the gardener is not present or on vacation.

Comfort 3: Low maintenance system, easy to setup and use. No need to add power extensions or extra piping on your roof or garden.

Comfort 4: Can be used in combination with or as water supply for other existing watering systems for small gardens or hydroponics. There are many watering kits available on the market that have a pump and a bucket, but we wonder, what happens when your bucket is empty?
